The story of Daniel Bouju dates back to 1805 in the village of Saint-Preuil, located in the heart of Grande Champagne, the most prestigious cru of Cognac. Established by the Allard and Chauvin families, the estate has remained dedicated to traditional cognac-making for over two centuries. Today, under the stewardship of the sixth generation, Daniel and Liliane Bouju continue to preserve the family’s heritage while refining production methods with modern expertise.

The estate cultivates Ugni Blanc grapes across 30 hectares of Grande Champagne vineyards and remains committed to traditional Charentais distillation. This dedication to craftsmanship has earned Daniel Bouju a reputation among cognac enthusiasts for producing exceptionally authentic and characterful spirits.

Daniel Bouju XO is a remarkable expression that showcases the depth and complexity achievable through extended aging. Matured for approximately 25 years, it far exceeds the minimum requirements for the XO designation and develops the prized character known as Rancio—a distinctive aroma found only in very old cognacs and wines. Rancio evokes notes reminiscent of forest floor, dried mushrooms, antique cellars, and exotic spices, adding extraordinary complexity and elegance.

The nose reveals earthy undertones, subtle mushroom notes, and warming cinnamon spice, followed by rich aromas of ripe grapes, plum, and vanilla. On the palate, concentrated fruit flavors unfold with remarkable depth and refinement, balanced by gentle sweetness and mature oak influence. The extended aging creates a velvety texture and a sophisticated structure that continues to evolve in the glass.

The finish is long, graceful, and deeply complex, leaving lingering impressions of dried fruit, spice, oak, and the unmistakable character of aged Grande Champagne cognac. Rich in tradition and craftsmanship, Daniel Bouju XO offers an exceptional tasting experience that beautifully demonstrates why long-aged cognacs remain some of the most revered spirits in the world.
