Octomore is a philosophical creation that represents an “experiment beyond limits” and the “coexistence of power and delicacy.” Produced by the Bruichladdich Distillery, the name originates from a small 19th-century farm distillery that once existed on Islay. Reviving that legacy since 2002, Octomore is released annually in limited quantities, embodying a spirit of both tradition and bold challenge.
The defining characteristic of Octomore is its status as a “Super Heavily Peated” whisky. While it boasts phenol levels (ppm) several times higher than typical Islay whiskies, the taste is surprisingly refined, delicate, and well-balanced rather than merely harsh.
Octomore 15.2 features spirit matured in Bourbon casks and finished in Oloroso and Amarone wine casks. The sweetness of ripe dried fruits and deep tannins encounter a powerful 137.3 ppm peat profile, resulting in a perfect contrast and harmony.
