The story of Daniel Bouju began in 1805 in the village of Saint-Preuil, located at the heart of Grande Champagne, the most prestigious cru of the Cognac region. Founded by the Allard and Chauvin families, the estate has remained family-owned for more than two centuries, preserving traditional craftsmanship while continuously refining its methods across six generations.
In its early years, the estate cultivated Colombard and Folle Blanche grapes and distilled its spirits using wood-fired Charentais stills. Today, under the stewardship of Daniel and Liliane Bouju, the house continues to uphold its heritage while embracing thoughtful modernization. The estate now farms approximately 30 hectares of Ugni Blanc vineyards in Grande Champagne, producing eaux-de-vie renowned for their elegance, complexity, and exceptional aging potential.
What distinguishes Daniel Bouju is its unwavering commitment to traditional cognac production. Every stage, from vineyard management to distillation and long-term maturation, is carried out with meticulous attention to detail. The result is a range of cognacs that showcase the hallmark qualities of Grande Champagne: floral refinement, remarkable depth, and the ability to develop extraordinary complexity over decades of aging.
Through generations of expertise and dedication, Daniel Bouju has earned a reputation among cognac enthusiasts for producing authentic, character-driven spirits that embody both the rich history of Cognac and the enduring value of artisanal craftsmanship.
