“If you want the most intense smokiness, Ardbeg is the answer.”
Founded in 1815 on the southern coast of Islay, Scotland, Ardbeg is renowned as the world’s most intensely peated whisky. Its profile of dense smoke, sea breeze, tar, moss, and sea salt perfectly captures the wild depth of Islay, yet it maintains a surprisingly delicate and complex balance amidst such intensity.
As a brand under the LVMH Group that blends tradition with bold innovation—even conducting experiments by sending whisky into space—its annual limited editions are highly coveted by collectors worldwide.
Ardbeg An Oa is a single malt that takes the rugged personality of Ardbeg and envelops it in a smoother, more approachable character. Named after the Mull of Oa in the southwest of Islay—which acts as a natural shield against the island’s fierce Atlantic storms—An Oa represents a more refined and rounded style of Ardbeg’s signature smokiness. It is crafted by blending whiskies matured in Bourbon barrels, Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks, and heavily charred virgin oak casks, which are then married together in the distillery’s bespoke “Gathering Vat.” This process adds complexity and harmony, revealing a side of Ardbeg that is both powerful and warmly approachable.
