Amahagan World Malt Edition No. 1

Founded in 2016, Nagahama Distillery initially focused on blending through its Amahagan World Malt Edition series. Blending is one of the most fundamental and important aspects of whisky making, and through this approach, Nagahama created a new style of whisky that combines Japan’s unique environment with Scotland’s whisky-making expertise.

Amahagan World Malt Edition No. 1 is crafted by blending Scotch malt whiskies matured in bourbon casks with Nagahama malt whisky aged for at least three years in bourbon casks. It is bottled at 47% ABV without chill filtration or added coloring, preserving the whisky’s natural character and texture.

The whisky showcases Nagahama’s signature soft malt profile layered with rich notes reminiscent of orange and chocolate. Sweet vanilla aromas envelop the palate, while hints of citrus and gentle spices emerge toward the finish, creating a beautifully balanced medium-length finish. This expression offers an elegant introduction to the distinctive character of Nagahama’s world malt philosophy.
