Aberlour means “the mouth of the chattering burn” in Gaelic, and the distillery is named after the village where it resides. One of Aberlour’s greatest points of pride is its commitment to using only local barley grown within 15 miles of the distillery—a philosophy maintained since its founding in 1879.

A defining characteristic of Aberlour is its use of the “marrying” technique rather than the cask-finishing method common in modern whisky production. By maturing spirits separately in different casks and then blending them in a marrying tun, the distillery preserves the core essence of each cask while achieving exceptional balance. It is also well-known as the best-selling single malt whisky in France.

Aberlour 14 Year Old Double Cask Matured is crafted from spirits aged for at least 14 years in both bourbon and Oloroso sherry oak casks. These are brought together in a marrying tun for a stabilization period of two to three months before bottling. Unlike cask-finished products, this expression represents a beautiful marriage between the bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks, making it a must-try for any whisky enthusiast.
