Ryuka Single Malt 3Y 2026 Early Summer
Ryuka Single Malt 3Y 2026 Early Summer is a limited-edition single malt whisky from Suzaki Distillery in Okinawa, Japan. The name Ryuka (琉歌) is inspired by traditional Okinawan folk songs, reflecting the distillery’s aspiration to create a whisky worthy of being passed down through generations.
This 2026 Early Summer release is a three-year-old single malt crafted from a unique blend of Oloroso Sherry, Awamori, and Spanish Virgin Oak casks. Matured in Okinawa’s hot and humid subtropical climate, where annual angel’s share losses can exceed 10%, the whisky develops remarkable depth and concentration in a relatively short period. The accelerated interaction between spirit and oak produces a richness rarely found in whiskies of similar age.
The aroma opens with luxurious notes of raisins, blackberry, and dried plum from the Oloroso sherry casks. Layers of cinnamon and clove emerge from the Spanish oak, adding warmth and complexity. Meanwhile, the Awamori casks contribute a distinctive tropical fruit character that sets this whisky apart from traditional sherry-matured expressions.
On the palate, concentrated fruit sweetness intertwines with exotic spice and oak influence, creating a rich and textured experience. The finish is long and satisfying, carrying notes of caramel and milk chocolate alongside lingering fruit and spice.
Whether enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water, Ryuka Single Malt 3Y 2026 Early Summer beautifully showcases the unique maturation environment of Okinawa and the innovative spirit of Suzaki Distillery.
