Amahagan World Malt Edition No. 5

Founded in 2016, Nagahama Distillery initially focused on mastering the art of blending through its Amahagan World Malt Edition series. Believing blending to be one of the most fundamental and important elements of whisky making, the distillery created a unique “World Malt” style that combines Japan’s craftsmanship and environment with the rich traditions of Scotch whisky.

Amahagan World Malt Edition No. 5 is built upon the foundation of Edition No. 1 and is further matured in sherry casks, adding remarkable depth, richness, and complexity to the whisky. This additional maturation enhances the spirit with luxurious notes of dried fruits, honey, and sweet spice while preserving Nagahama’s signature soft malt character.

On the nose, aromas of honey, raisins, apricot jam, and ripe plum unfold beautifully. The palate is rich and oily, delivering layers of honey, vanilla, and warming spice. The finish is long and elegant, lingering with sweet vanilla and honey notes that gradually fade, leaving a refined and satisfying impression. Amahagan No. 5 is a rich and approachable expression that showcases the harmony between sherry cask influence and delicate Japanese whisky craftsmanship.
