Daldal Dailuaine 9 Year Old – Planet Series No.2 “Venus”

The second release in the Planet Series, Venus is inspired by the brightest object in the night sky after the moon—a planet associated with warmth, beauty, and quiet attraction. Unlike a harsh or dazzling light, Venus captivates through elegance and presence, drawing attention naturally and effortlessly. This whisky seeks to embody that same sense of gentle magnetism.

Distilled at Dailuaine Distillery, one of Speyside’s most respected yet often overlooked distilleries, this release showcases the distillery’s signature oily and weighty spirit character. Dailuaine is particularly renowned among whisky enthusiasts for producing a robust malt with remarkable texture, aided in part by its traditional use of worm tub condensers.

For this bottling, spirit distilled on 3 August 2016 was matured in a First Fill Amontillado Octave, an unusually small cask that accelerates the interaction between spirit and wood. The influence of the Amontillado sherry cask introduces layers of roasted nuts, dried fruits, gentle spice, and elegant oxidative complexity while preserving the distillery’s rich cereal backbone.

Bottled on 30 March 2026 at a natural 58.6% ABV, this single-cask release delivers remarkable concentration and texture. The combination of Dailuaine’s oily spirit and the intense maturation provided by the octave cask creates a whisky that is both rich and expressive, balancing sweetness, spice, and depth with impressive precision.

Like its planetary namesake, this whisky is not loud or aggressive. Instead, it reveals its character gradually, drawing the drinker in with warmth, complexity, and enduring charm.
