Daldal Hwatu Malt July – Ardlear 13 Year Old
Created by the whisky specialists at Daldal Whisky, this limited-edition release combines a carefully selected single cask whisky with the artwork of Korean artist Han Seung-soo as part of the celebrated Hwatu Malt Series. The July Edition – Ardlear 13 Year Old marks the third release in the collaboration, offering both collectible appeal and exceptional whisky character.
Distilled on 13 October 2010 and matured in a Bourbon Barrel, this single malt was bottled on 5 June 2024 after thirteen years of maturation. The bourbon cask influence shines throughout, highlighting the bright, elegant, and fruit-forward nature of the spirit while allowing its natural character to remain at the forefront.
The whisky opens with vibrant citrus notes reminiscent of freshly cut lemon, followed by crisp green apple and ripe pear aromas. On the palate, the bright fruit character is complemented by layers of white chocolate and the comforting sweetness of roasted sweet potato, creating a profile that is both lively and approachable. The bourbon barrel contributes gentle vanilla, soft oak, and a clean structure that carries the flavors beautifully.
With only 166 bottles released worldwide, this is an exceptionally limited bottling that showcases the charm of bourbon-cask maturation while celebrating contemporary Korean art. For collectors and whisky enthusiasts alike, it is a rare opportunity to experience a unique marriage of craftsmanship, creativity, and carefully selected single malt whisky.
